- Performance: Universal high-performance tools for working on key materials and for the most common stationary applications.
- Productivity: High productivity due to optimum stock removal rate.
- Precision: The highest quality standards due to precise micro and macro geometry together with state-of-the-art coatings.
What are solid carbide end mills?
Solid carbide end mills (SCM) from PFERD are cutting tools for stationary use that are manufactured from application-optimised carbides using state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.
PFERD offers various designs whose geometry, coating, number and pitch of cutting edges, helix angle and shank shape are optimised for machining the most important materials and for the most common applications in stationary use.
The most common applications for solid carbide end mills include side milling, slotting, ramping, drilling, chamfering, deburring and profile milling when machining metal or plastic components.
Excellent wear resistance
We subjected our four-cutting-edge end mills to a performance test on different materials and measured the width of the flank wear after the tool was in cut for a defined period of time.
On the microscopic images we can see the impressive result – the cutting edge is still ready to use.

Results
Cutting data was adapted to the machine conditions.
The tool was replaced after a defined time in cut and was not used until the end of the tool life to ensure best comparability.
